Victoria Falls: Helicopter Gorge Flight & Wildlife Tour

About This Experience
The gorge and wildlife flight is the most comprehensive aerial tour currently offered from Victoria Falls, combining multiple passes over the main falls with a dedicated low-altitude run through the Batoka Gorge.
After hotel pickup and a safety briefing at the helipad, you take off and make your first pass over Victoria Falls — the full curtain, the rising mist, the canyon below. The pilot then descends into the gorge itself, flying at low altitude through the steep basalt walls that channel the Zambezi downstream. This section of the flight regularly yields wildlife sightings: hippos in the river pools, elephants on the floodplains, crocodiles on the banks.
The flight concludes with a second pass over the main falls, giving passengers on both sides of the aircraft a final opportunity for photography. Professional pilot narration runs throughout, covering the geology of the falls and the ecology of the Zambezi River system.
Total flight time is approximately 50 minutes. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the gorge flight differ from the standard scenic flight?
The gorge flight includes multiple passes over the main falls AND a dedicated low-altitude run through the Batoka Gorge — the dramatic canyon downstream from the falls where the Zambezi carves through basalt cliffs. This adds significant time over wildlife habitat and dramatic rock scenery.
Will I spot wildlife?
The route includes sections over the Zambezi River and adjacent national park. Hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and various bird species are regularly spotted from altitude. Sightings are never guaranteed but are a common highlight of this particular route.
